Terms of Service

The rules, in plain language. Last updated October 11, 2026. Translations are provided for convenience; the English version is the binding one.

Section 1

Who is behind this

zcrypt is a free service run by one individual, Muhammad Wasif Malik, not a company. "We" means him. By creating an account or using zcrypt you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Section 2

Your account

  • Give accurate details, and keep your password and vault passphrase safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You must be at least 16.
  • One person, one account. Do not sell or share access.

Section 3

The service and its limits

zcrypt encrypts your files on your device and stores the encrypted pieces. It is free, and it comes with limits that can change: storage on zcrypt-operated shared storage is capped (currently 1 GiB per user), a single file is capped, plans set how many uploads run at once, and anonymous Send is limited to 50 MB per file and 500 MB per day.

Connecting your own storage accounts (GitHub, GitLab, Hugging Face, Telegram) removes the shared cap. You are then bound by those platforms' own terms and limits, and you are responsible for their costs.

This is a one-person project. We may change, limit or discontinue features, and we make no promise of uptime.

Section 4

What you can and cannot do

You may not use zcrypt to:

  • store, share or distribute illegal content, or content that exploits or endangers children;
  • attack, probe or overload the service, or get around its limits, quotas or rate limits;
  • use zcrypt's shared storage as a free dumping ground, or create accounts or uploads in bulk by automation;
  • harass people or spread malware through shares, Send links or Spaces.

We cannot see your encrypted content, but we can see account activity and metadata, and we may act on it. Report abuse to the contact address below.

Section 5

Your data and your passphrase

You keep all rights to your files. You give us only the permission needed to store and transmit them as you direct. zcrypt's source code is open; the zcrypt name and logo are ours.

We cannot read, recover or reset your vault passphrase. If you lose it, your files are gone for good, and nobody, including us, can get them back. Use a password manager.

Platforms like GitHub, GitLab, Hugging Face or Telegram can delete, restrict or lose data, or suspend your account, for their own reasons. We cannot prevent that or recover what they lose. Keep another copy of anything that matters.

Section 6

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings; see the Privacy Policy for what happens next. We may suspend or end accounts that break these Terms or put the service or other people at risk. We will tell you why when we can.

Section 7

No warranty, and limits on liability

zcrypt is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for lost data (including from a forgotten passphrase, platform outage, platform suspension, bug or shutdown) or for indirect or consequential losses. Because the service is free, any liability we do have is limited to the amount you paid us, which is zero. Some places do not allow some of these limits, and those limits apply only as far as the law lets them.

Section 8

Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. We will update the date above and, for significant changes, email you or show a notice in the app. If you keep using zcrypt after a change takes effect, you accept it.
